Happy New Year! 새해 복 많이 받으세요!
This is the best time of year for all our students from Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove and Mission to flex their initiative muscles and start the year off right.
I’m a self-starter!
Taking purposeful action that propels life forward without outside reminders
Deep down inside of us we all want to have initiative. Showing initiative is a sign of growing up, and feeling like other people can rely on us. As kids, what are some things we can show initiative in?
  • Making our beds!
  • Brushing our teeth!
  • Folding our clothes!
  • Cleaning our room!
  • Being ready to leave!
  • Cleaning up after ourselves (whether it’s eating or playing)
  • Starting our homework by ourselves
  • Get ready for bed before parents have to tell us.
  • etc..
Each of us is capable, and it feels great to show initiative. How many times have we started to do one of these things and our family tells us how proud they are, or how surprised they are. This feels great, and when it feels great we are more likely to continue showing initiative all the way through the whole year.
**If you would like to receive extra stars:
  1. Tell your instructor what Initiative means in your own words
  2. Tell your instructor what you plan to show initiative in
  3. Tell your instructor of a time you DID show initiative

Hello everyone, we had an incredibly successful Belt Promotion Ceremony with everyone moving on to the next level. We also have our 14th Annual Chang’s Taekwondo Night Tickets for sale. We are selling to students and immediate family members only at this point. The point being that we want as many students and parents/siblings to come to the event as possible. Having just over 1000 seats and over 600 Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts students in total from our South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove and Mission locations. Therefore if every student came out to support our event, we are more than half full already! (Without Parents or siblings..) Support your Taekwondo schools and come watch us celebrate Taekwondo!
 We also have a Christmas special sale going on, generally speaking we are offering 10% off all purchases for $50 or more (Some restrictions apply!) as well as some Christmas packages. These packages put together some of the most purchased/sought after training tools we can provide.
Make sure to let us know you want the package before we close so we can definitely get you that special gift!

Staying Healthy during sick time
 Hello everyone! Can you believe it’s already November! Time flies.. Now with November comes certain exciting things, and certainly things that are less exciting. For our students in Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts serving South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove and Mission we have some advice!
 So we all experienced some snow in the beginning of November this year! So for some people (Mostly kids) this is exciting because snow means snowball fights, snowmen and sometimes school closure!
 For us adults, it means slippery walks, dangerous driving conditions and sometimes school closure!
 November is also the month that we get the most sick. We survived the going-back-to-school bugs in September and October so it’s easy for us to relax and stop taking good care of ourselves. This is the wrong idea!
 We want all our students to continue to be vigilant when keeping themselves healthy, this means:
* Wash your hands before eatings
* Wash your hands after training Taekwondo
* Use Hand Sanitizer if your parents allow it
* Eat your Vitamins
* Eat healthy food
* Drink lots of water
    * (This time of year with the temperature changes it’s easy for us to get chapped lips and hands! Avoid this by staying hydrated!)
* Go to sleep! Sleep is the part of our day when our body can fix itself and recharge the batteries.. Make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep.
If you are already sick, we have some pointers for you on how to not share this wonderful things you have:
* Cough or sneeze into your elbow, like a ‘DAB’
    * Destory – All – Bacteria (DAB)
* Wash your hands frequently, and anytime you blow your nose
* Eat your vitamins
* Get EXTRA sleep!
* Drink EXTRA water
* Cut out sugar to recover faster~
 We hope everyone has a safe and healthy November!
**If you want extra stars:
1. Tell your Instructor what you are planning to do to stay healthy
2. Tell your Instructor about your healthy diet
3. Give your Instructor a healthy tip about staying healthy!
Changs Taekwondo Mission BCTaekwondo Mission BC

Hello everyone! Here is our mission school update:

The Mats are going down, the stickers are on the windows and Head Instructor Don is very excited to begin trial classes this month! Look forward to our grand opening for Mission in March of 2018.

We are also talking about a new word of the month in all our Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts locations in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen and Aldergrove.

Citizenship means: Being an active, caring and responsible member of our community.

Being part of a community or a group means each individual must:

  • Be helpful and support, make sure we all pitch in to help each other.
  • Be Respectful, treating others in the community the way they themselves would like to be treated.
  • Do their part, keeping communities safe for everyone and treating people fairly.
  • The best way to keep things fair and safe is for a community to have rules and for everyone to follow them.

What kind of rules do we have to follow?? We have different rules for different places:

  • At home:
    • Clean up after yourself
    • Respect other people’s privacy
  • At School:
    • No running in the hallways
    • Respect other people’s space
    • Listen to your teachers
  • At your Dojang (Taekwondo School)
    • Bow and be respectful
    • Listen to your Instructors
    • Be kind to other students
  • In our Community
    • Obey traffic laws
    • Respect other people’s livelihood
    • Keep the community clean, don’t litter!

We can definitely all enjoy a better community by being good citizens. Let’s all pitch in to make South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen and Aldergrove great places to live!

**Should you desire extra stars:

  1. Tell your Instructors rules at your house
  2. Tell your Instructors rules at your School
  3. Tell your Instructors the rules of the Dojang (Taekwondo school)
