Blog about reconciliation day

Hello everyone! This week students from Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove, Mission, and all over Canada will be observing the newly minted ‘Truth and Reconciliation’ stat holiday. It’s easy to simply enjoy the day off and play video games or hang out and forget about the true meaning behind this day.Throughout history, people have conquered and been conquered with little compassion or empathy. It is only now, in our beautiful country of Canada that people have developed the ability to reconcile and feel compassion for those who were wronged.Living in Canada we have a choice, to acknowledge the past and begin to build a better future.. The government of Canada has made that decision and now we can make it happen! What kind of Canada do we want to live in?Students wear their orange T-shirts to symbolize “an opportunity to discuss the effects of residential schools and their legacy. It honors the experiences of Indigenous Peoples, celebrates resilience, and affirms a commitment that every child matters.” Changs Taekwondo White Rock
