Thanksgiving Taekwondo

Thanksgiving is an important holiday in Canada and marks a time to be thankful and grateful for all the blessings in our lives! It’s also time to reflect on the people and things we might take for granted. This could be our friends and family, or the adventures and activities were able to experience. At Chang’s Taekwondo, we are grateful for our incredible Taekwondo family and all the students and parents that support our schools. We are also thankful for our instructors and teachers that lead classes and grow our community. We wouldn’t be able to experience the joy and excitement we have without them! To train in martial arts is more than just learning cool kicks and punches but also encompassing its mentality and beliefs. Gratitude is something we look to instill into the minds of our students and teach them to value as an emotion. Gratitude is commonly defined as “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness”. It offers us a way to embrace the goodness that’s in our lives and then share it back with others. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to reflect on the kindness we’ve received and plan how we can continue to share this kindness and positivity with others in the months and years to come. At Chang’s, we are fortunate to have five schools across the lower mainland, which are located in White Rock, Cloverdale/langley, Aldergrove, Tsawwassen, and Mission. Each of these schools is home to a community of people that are connected by a love for martial arts, and Taekwondo specifically. As martial artists, we must do our best to give back and show gratitude to not only our own Chang’s family but the communities that we reside in. Here are some of the ways you might be able to show gratitude to your community: • Volunteer at a local charity or food bank• Clean up garbage at the beach or a park• Donate to a food drive or charitable cause• Commit a random act of kindness• Donate blood These are all great ways that you can show gratitude to your community while giving back and making a meaningful difference. We encourage all our students to get involved in activities that positively benefit others. It’s equally important to share your experiences with others and help inspire further acts of kindness and displays of gratitude. Therefore, your masters and instructors at Chang’s Taekwondo are challenging you this Thanksgiving to make a list of the things you are grateful for and try to find a way that you can positively show this gratitude. Make sure to take a picture in action and tag your school to let us see how you decided to give back and show your gratitude! A big thank you to our incredible Chang’s community and we hope you have an amazing Thanksgiving celebrating with friends and family! See you in class! Changs Taekwondo Thanksgiving
