Chang’s Taekwondo – New Year’s Resolution

Hello everyone! We are officially into the new year now! With more than two weeks behind us hopefully we are all remembering to write 2015 and not 2014! This week we’d like to go back to how we felt about our self improvement on December 31st and January 1st.

Let’s talk about your New Year’s Resolution

Changs Taekwondo Word of the Month

So you’ve been going to the gym, eating healthy, going through lessons learning that language or just have begun smiling more often at people. Whatever your Resolution is, Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts is here to help! We’d like to offer some tips on keeping your resolution as easily as you can…
Specific – Make sure you don’t go too broad, make your goal very simple
Measurable – Make it something you can check every once in a while to see your progress, this will help you stay motivated!
Attainable – Don’t push your goal into the unreachable! Make it something challenging but something you can definitely one day!
Realistic – Don’t pick something impossible, and have it help you in some way!
Time-Sensitive – By giving yourself too little or too much time, you lose motivation because you are either too stressed, or feel like you can procrastinate and put off practicing or training because it’s far away from now.

For example let’s say you want to achieve the splits, Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts in South Surrey, Cloverdale and Tsawwassen are definitely capable of helping you with this goal! You want to be specific, “I will touch the ends of my belt to the ground while doing the splits.” This is measurable, by the distance you are from the ground. This is Attainable, anyone can improve their splits with enough training and stretching! Realistic, instead of saying “I want to be flat on the ground by the end of the year!” you’re giving yourself a more realistic goal. Time-Sensitive, you’re giving yourself a year to do it, so you must judge for yourself how much or how little you need to stretch everyday to accomplish your goal throughout the year.
